Bouldering near Nha Trang
Hon Chong Promontory
Access
Also called the “Stone Garden”, located 5km North of Nha Trang center. As a “touristic attraction”, there are small entrance fees of USD 1. GPS coordinates: 12.272865, 109.206732
Potential
In total, around 10 problems from V0 to V5. Vertical and slightly steep granite profiles.
- The goods: very close to Nha Trang center, boulders close to each other of good height, mostly flat (but stone) reception, more solid grips/features than usual for this type of rock in this area.
- The bads: the number of boulders (only 5) and bouldering problems (around 10) make this destination pretty limited in terms of potential. I suppose we climbed in 2007 most of the possible problems, from V0 to V5. There might be one harder problem (V6/V7) on the biggest boulder facing the sea.
- Conclusion: limited but interesting destination if you are there, given the proximity from Nha Trang.

Boulder 1 & 2
These 2 boulders are just on the right after a suspended egg-shaped boulder between 2 boulders.
Problem 1, 4C: follow the good finger crack
Problem 2, 5A: dynamic move on good slopers, then stand up high to top out
Boulder 3
Problem 3, 5A: left-right traverse. Start on slopers, then climb on a fragile flake.
Problem 4, 4B: left-right traverse. Follow the underclings then top out with good holds
Project 1: stand up with a bad undercling then reach a worst flat hole
Boulder 4: the King Boulder, just in front of the sea
Problem 5, 5B: no foot start, then follow the good notches
Project 2: start in the right of the legendary Giant Fingerprint, then climb up left
Project 3: follow the flat crack (left-right) then long reach in direction to good notches
Potential
There is a massive potential on each side of the road which follows the sea coast. The point is to get there most of time (jungle crossing), and they’re a bit far apart from each others. However, there is sometimes amazing stuff!
