Halong Bay Trip

Kayaking approach

To beat the heat of Hanoi, VietClimb coordinated some Deep Water Soloing (aka psicobloc) trips in Halong Bay. But what is DWS? DWS is a genuine way of climbing, a return to the origins. Welcome to the matrix of pure rock climbing. No drilling-machines, no hammer, no protection, no chance to pinch one’s finger around the bolt when clipping (not that you do anyway), no rope, no harness. Only you, your fingers, your accurate climbing shoes (now wet), the cliff, the line, and the sea. Choose your wall, your path, let your body speak, keep focused, forget about the height and the likely fall, breathe, visualize the next move, cock, trigger, grip, link to the next move. Pure sensations. Welcome to a better world!

Locations: Tien Ong, Lan Da, Hang Du

Notes:
- DWS weekends in Halong Bay coordinated by VietClimb are usually reserved to members.
- Cost (Hanoi – Cat Ba- Hanoi, 2 days/1 night): fees starting at 75 USD for VietClimb members, 85 USD for non-members. It includes: round trip tickets Hanoi-Cat Ba (bus + speedboat), boat and kayak rental, overnight on the boat 1 breakfast/2 lunch/1 diner, unlimited climbing/kayaking/napping/partying.
- Season: from April to October (mostly week-ends).
