From the 11th to the 13th of January, a VietClimb team composed of Hoa, Thinh, Josh and JV participated at the Gravical competition in Singapore. It was the first time for local climbers to sign up for a bouldering competition gathering climbers from all South-East Asia. Our main objective at this event was to reach out to the climbing community, engage participants and to promote sports-climbing. It’s great for us to take a part in the climbing regional scene and to be inspired by stronger climbers to train harder! We hope to give to everyone a better understanding of climbing as a sport in Vietnam!
After a great success last year, the Christmas Bouldering Competition hosted by VietClimb is back! This competition is designed to be a fun, but competitive event. It will be an excellent way to improve your climbing and a great way to get fit— and stay fit— over the winter months. As an added incentive, the winners will go home with an extra special gift just in time for Christmas!
What is a bouldering competition? Competitors will work through a series of climbing problems with a time limit. Points will be awarded for completing each problems.
Registration dates: 22/11/2012-9/12/2012. Participation fees: Members: 150,000 VND | Non-members: 200,000 VND

Features: top-rope, safety notes, gravity tips, lead climbing introduction (with prerequisites)
Includes: duration of 12 hours, transportation, access pass, climbing gear, coaching
Excludes: insurance, food & drinks, others not listed above

To beat the heat of Hanoi, VietClimb coordinated some Deep Water Soloing (aka psicobloc) trips in Halong Bay. But what is DWS? DWS is a genuine way of climbing, a return to the origins. Welcome to the matrix of pure rock climbing. No drilling-machines, no hammer, no protection, no chance to pinch one’s finger around the bolt when clipping (not that you do anyway), no rope, no harness. Only you, your fingers, your accurate climbing shoes (now wet), the cliff, the line, and the sea. Choose your wall, your path, let your body speak, keep focused, forget about the height and the likely fall, breathe, visualize the next move, cock, trigger, grip, link to the next move. Pure sensations. Welcome to a better world!
Locations: Tien Ong, Lan Da, Hang Du
